Julia Hawke and Penny Stone are finally together. From meeting while Julia was Penny’s writing professor three years ago to where they are now, it’s been a long, complicated (yet sexy) road. But at last, they’re a couple and they’ve never been more in love. Nine months in and the honeymoon is going strong.

But every honeymoon has to end sometime…

And when reality comes knocking, Julia and Penny find that their love is about to be tested. Parents, pasts, careers and love rivals are lining to up to get in the way of the relationship. How will they handle the ambush of problems? Will they figure out how to make it work despite everything the world has to throw at them? Or will they simply keep making the same mistakes that tore them apart before?

Hawke Flight Julia Hawke Series Book 3 edition by Natasha West Literature Fiction eBooks

So much to say I have no idea where to start. I read it one sitting its that great. This book cemented my love for Julia Hawke and all her wonderfully beautiful complexities. Hawke's Flight like its predecessors delivers the same attention to detail and respect for it's leading characters. Natasha West continues to show us the growing pains of a relationship, the good, complex, the vulnerable and the insecure. Both Julia and Penny experience each other and themselves without rose colored glasses which is refreshing as many lesfic novels do provide a shade of pink.

One of the things I loved most about this book was the layers it provided. We get to experience Penny as a young professional woman which is really lovely. Seeing her handle her success and still keep true to who she is, is amazing. The moments where she shines most for me is when she lends her strength to Julia. This is essential and incredibly heartwarming as we get to see Julia also become an adult. Making better, healthier decisions that benefit not just herself in the present but her relationship with Penny in the future.

Hawke's Flight is a small view into a relationship when the honeymoon is over. When life invades and shows you no mercy for the months it had you living in fairytale bliss. It's a glimpse into the kind of work it takes to make a relationship work when you want it to go the distance but may feel a little insecure, inexperienced, vulnerable or all of the above.

Natasha West, what can I say? This book is another home run. The entire series is. It's a beautiful read with well developed with delicious layers that stay with the reader long after the last word is read.

Hawke Flight Julia Hawke Series Book 3 edition by Natasha West Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

Great Book..well written storyline. The depth and complexity of the two main characters Julia and Penny made it hard to put the book down. It tapped into the main characters pain, loss and love so well.
This has been a good story. I hope the story isn't over.
It's time for Julia and penny to live a happy life. They deserve it
I was excited to see another book in the series. Honestly I thought it ended with second one but this one does address new issues so it's not really going in circle per se. I do wish it was a little more flushed out and detailed, depth wise. In the first two books the secondary characters felt like they added a good deal to the development of the characters as well as the story. In this one they felt more like background noise. I still loved it and if there will be another I will await for it excitedly.
I stayed up until 4am reading this. West kept me on my toes with the series and I really wanted to see how she'd finish it out. I wasn't disappointed.

I think the third book is the best yet mainly because the author continues to really invest in Julia's character and organically matures the relationship between Penny and Julia in a believable way. Overall, the writing was satisfying and high quality.

This book starts 9 months after the events of book two.

We get to see Julia go further in her introspection and make different choices based on her growth while Penny has room to mature into herself, as well. Like the other books, it's not all happy happy joy joy and we do get a smaller misunderstanding that causes more drama than it should...but, at the same time, I could see these characters actually doing what they did based on their insecurities.

By the end, we really get the sense that Penny and Julia are meant to be together and West gets the characters to a place where, as the reader, we can really root for them, get a dose of the warm fuzzies that eluded us in the other books and finally feel secure in their future.

I particularly appreciated that this author explored a darker situation and initially unlikable main character through the whole series, going full drama. She did a great job.

4.4 stars

Definitely recommend the series.
I love the Julia Hawke series. My only wish is that this one was a it longer so that I could enjoy the good times a bit more.

But otherwise well written and a good portrayal of a complex woman with baggage that hopefully isn't as weighed down by it anymore. Hoping for a book 4 to round the series off
Well, I have to say that I'm not really into sequels. Like.. at all.
That being said, I should probably mention that the“ Hawke's game“ was the first sequel to a book that I had the desire to read, so I did.
And not just because I'm THE worst sucker for HEA (I know. I'm lame. Whatever.) and I wanted desperately for Julia and Penny to be together, but also because "Hawke's prey" was just that good. So was it's sequel.

As for the "Hawke's flight".. if it was by any other author I probably wouldn't read it. Because, like I said, I'm not into sequels and this is THE THIRD book! *cough*
But it's Natasha West so.. you know, I just had to. ;)
And I was really curious where she'll go with the story.

And I'm so glad I've read it, because I was totally engrossed in the story just like I've been the first time and the second time.
Julia and Penny are once again showing how love (and life in general) is not always walk in the park and how people are less than perfect. But sometimes.. if they just try a little harder, who knows what can happen, right?
So it's another great journey with these interesting characters as we witness their struggles with some common (and some uncommon) issues in their relationship and within themselves.
