I have read many books on technical topics and software, and have never come across one that is so excruciatingly frustrating to read. I've only managed to slog through two chapters, and maybe it'll get better, but the best I can describe it is as is slightly beyond a rough draft. For all intents and purposes, it appears that it was never edited and nobody actually followed the steps to see if they were complete/correct. Specific complaints:> Redundant or irrelevant "light bulb" hints/pointers. You can count on "During the initial SolidWorks installation, you were requested to select either ISO or ANSI drafting standard" to be stated several times in each chapter, often on sequential pages. Chapter One: "Every license of SolidWorks contains a copy of SolidWorks SustainabailityXpress". Yeah, so what? What does that have to do with the material on Page 1-4 or even Chapter One? Absolutely nothing.
> Page 2-65, steps 643, 646, 649: It's not "Click and drag". It's "Ctrl-click and drag". Similar mistakes abound.
> Answers to the exercises and review questions are not given.
> The "Video Instruction" is useless. It contains a full 90 minutes of video that races through step-by-step exercises with absolutely no explanation of what you are doing or why. It appears that the person editing the video removed all pauses that would be part of normal conversation or classroom instruction, not unlike the legalese at the end of a TV commercial for a prescription drug.
On the plus side, the book is fairly good at pointing out "best practices", such as using symmetry in sketches, and approaches to creating assemblies.

This book is very poor written and I wish I had not ordered it. It is poorly organized and very misleading.
The book helped me get thur a project that had stumped me and others couldn't help me with. Couldn't have completed with out this book.
Excelent book, it's ingreat shape.
I chose this book on a whim after just a few minutes of online research into books to help learn solid works. I haven't got to read much of it, but the parts that I did read were packed with useful information. So far so good.
It walks you through to much. It should give you a schemetic with dimensions at the biggening of each part and then walk you through it. that way you would have the option of doing it by yourself.
